no, i was thinking about the rear side openers. my cheapskate bis doesnt have anything, no rear wipers, no fog lights, rear belts, rear glass de fogger, nothing extra...

the instalation looks simple enough, but i dont want a nother hole for rain to pour in.

i wouldnt change the front quaterlights cos its something no modern car has, and i think its quite handy during winter, lets some air in, but not too much

thats the difference between where you live and here, the bis came with all the bits your missing as standard spec. what you need are the windows ,openers and the different rubber seal its a dead easy job to do are there plenty of parts local to you? its a pity you are so far away as i have rear glass(heated) side windows , etc here in my garage .

Ive just done the stupidest thing possible, and created a problem where there wasnt one. I wanted to clean the water level indicator thingy behind the rear left grille, so i took it out, cleaned it and found out it didnt work at all, so i "fixed" it, and put it back in. still didnt work, so i took it out again, and the floating part (buoy or whatever you guys call it?) fell into the expansion tank.... i must be the unluckyest SOB alive

im just hoping it will float on top of the expansion tank and wont get stuck in the pipework...
is it possible to take out the expansion tank without remowing the radiator? thanx...

i just red this post... didnt see it before...

i want to install all the extras you guys have... especially those side windows... 126 parts are getting more and more difficult to find, for example i searched my whole city and couldnt find a relay for the wipers...
im planning a trip to italy this or next week, i found a bis on a scrapheap, which should have all the bist I need...

oh, and i wonder if the rear wipers would be easy to install? are the wires there or do i need those aswell?

I just bought a aircooled 126 box for my bis. Ill be replacing the bellhousings and replacing the oil. Soon we shall have an answer to that long lasting question :"does the airc. box really fit a BIS?"..

I just need a little help from you guys: how much gearb. oil goes into the box? thanx...

Hi Gordan, on level ground just take the top plug out and fill it till it starts to run out, then put the plug back in.

Well, i believe ive done it! The aircooled box fitted just ok on my bis. the only difference between the two is that the airc. box uses a different support system (it has 2 holes, whilst the bis support crossmember has 4 bolts..) and the rewerse light switch is somewhat different. Ive combined the two to make one that apparantly works. I used the driveshafts and diff from my bis as they were in much better condition, and i used the bis bellhousing.. this was the first time i could start up on a hil without holding my stick and praying it wont shake too much!!!!

Total money spent 32 pounds... :wink:

P.s. the new box i fitted also has freeplay on the input shaft so i actually dont understand what the problem was, but at this point i dont want to know, im just happy it works... :shock:

Just been browsing my manual, and i found out that my bis is missing a piece for the engine... a water duct guard or somethin like that... do you guys have it, is it crucial, the previous owners must have lost it :

Yes mine has got one on, the cowling protects the radiator and water pipes from stones that might be thrown up by the rear wheels.

Yes I think air too, when my Rads fan is spinning air departs by the rear near side wheel.

I wasnt thinking about the outlet that holds the rad. This one lies under the engine, and as pete said, probably just serves as a pipe protection...

Just bought a new fuelpump for my bis, the old one failed yesterday whan it got hot, so i bought this one for 13pounds :wink:
