I just vant to cover mine and put it back, but now a new problem has risen, how do you remove the air blowers?? I tried to do it before (so i could replace em, the left one is broken) but couldnt find any screws or anything else thet holds it in place???

I removed mine, you have to remove the plastic unit (fan etc) from under the bonnet then yhere are some tiny tucket right up the back of it (i used a screw driver to flick them off) DONT pull the blower from the front, they are really fragile and tend to crack

You will also need to remove the plastic casing (?) from behind the steering wheel.

sorry guys, no luck with the badges... the man at the scrapheap told me they scrapped all the 126es a while back cos there was no interest, and he didnt get any zastavas for quite some time, he couldnt even find me some rear wiew mirrors

I think the same guy on ebay sells them? He has an ebay shop! It has finally stopped raining and I got my 700 fitted, I will post pics soon!

Still having those first gear problems, so I decided to take him off the road for a month or so till i get a new engine from italy.
This is a good opportunity to do some of the work i had been postponing.
It has been raining here non stop now for about a month or so, and my interrior (the left side)

was soaking wet. i opened the boot and found a lot of water just sitting there and turning my beautiful red BIS into a rust bucket. Plus there is a hole for wires that serves as a nice way for the water to get out of the boot- and into my interrior. Im waiting for it to dry, and then im gunna apply so much silicon on it that its going to reduce the bootspace by half >

Only prob is i HAVE NOO BLOODY IDEA where all the water is coming from. I glued that black plastic under the windscreen so its not it, and i covereed all the boot edges with some sponge... im quite confused.... :smt017

The second thing i did is take the seats appart. it turned up that most of the springs were broken, so i managed to make one like-new seat out of two... now i need to buy another one to finish this one....

The story of my car continues... andit will probably newer end... :wink:

normally the water gets in via the top windscreen seal runs around down the sides inside the rubber and at the bottom its normally rusted and perforated where the water seeps in down the wheel well and onto your carpets. remove your carpet and get a hosepipe and run water at the top of the windscreen and see if it does leak there if it doesnt try and find where its dripping in and follow it back.

You know, thats not a bad idea. I just need to wait for this damn rain to pass...

During the last few moths that i have the 126 ive heard people complaining about how theyre prone to rust, and how rust protection is bad, blah blah blah... but i must say that this is really not so. I dk if they decided to make mine a special example of how the car should look like but i must say that all the weakspots on the car have been really well covered and protected. the place i vas talking about was wet every time it rained for the last 16 years, but no rust bubles were formed, inside it was also wet most of the time, but the floor is so well covered in some plasticky stuff that rust didnt have a chance. I know my car isnt that old, but my dads 1995 Golf MK.3 has more rust problems than my bis....

to be honest most cars look fine with no rust, but if you strip the paint off you would all sorts of rust in places you never thought , i did this you see on a car i thought was totally solid. have you waxoiled your car ? its a good idea to do so if you plan to keep the car for as long as you can.

I havent waxoiled it yet. I plan to do it before the next winter sets in, figured if it held for 17 years, itll survive a few more months...

being a rookie i would wery much appreciate it if someone would explain what is considered good waxoiling... (what needs to be done)... THX

off the topic. im planning to install side windows that can be opened. just wondering if anyone has had problems with these (i have a feeling they are prone to leaking water inside and i dont need any more of that..) plus are the seals standard off the shelf or do i need to get original. thanx again.

do you mean front (quaterlights)? or rear side openers? either way they are easy enough but if its the front why bother? most owners would prefer to put the more modern side windows in think?
