LHD headlamps
« on: September 04, 2014, 09:51:26 PM »
Hi

I have done a few searches and couldn't find my answer. I need to get my LHD lamps to pass an MOT.

Can the lenses be adapted to do this?

I'm guessing RHD ones are hard to find!

Thanks

Nath

You can stick beam deflectors (Black Tape) over the triangle part that causes the Right hand Uplift Or Bar Vitelli on the forum has some new ones.

If your reflectors are good, go looking for used RHD lights at a wrecker's. Any old crap will do as long as the lenses are intact.
Now you have to do what the 500D owners do. Carefully cut thru the glue joint between the glass and the reflectors and swap the old RHD glasses onto your good reflectors or buy new ones- New LHD lamps are so cheap !
You just have to get the correct glue and be careful to align things and wear rubber gloves so you do not leave corrosive sweaty prints on the reflectors.

You can cut the old glue joint with a dremel or dimond disk and beware of the dust !

Fiat 127 used the same lights as I have read, did some versions of the 128 (in limited countries)

Thanks for the replies folks. Very helpful. Ronb1967 do you have a photo of those defectors fitted? My reflectors are perfect so I will look for some RHD lamps.

Thanks

My mot tester stuck some black tape on for me when he did the alignment, didn't charge me either :)
