Turbo, Is it possible to do?
« on: April 06, 2010, 11:18:14 AM »
I was thinking about installing a turbo onto the aircooled engine, Is this possible?

I was thinking of using a small t15 turbo, a small intercooler, amd install a fuel injector on the intake manifold with a pressure switch that will activate the injector once the car is on boost.

other things i will be installing are bigger valves, dellorto 40 dhla and maybe upgrade the engine to 700cc

Anything is possible, just how long the engine will last is a worry.

I'd upgrade conrods (see Berni Motori) link i put up here.

might be worth asking the question of them

i know john bitmead ( aka darkhorse ) . made a aircooled engine with a turbo etc using metro bits and gubbins .

i think it lasted , he sold it awhile ago though .

i suppose anythings possible , but i wouldnt bother modding a aircooled 126 eng, might aswell swop it out for something altogether bigger?

as darrell said, anything can be acheived .. i suspect youll need deep posckets though, and just remember to tell the insurance comp of your mods ..
if i have asked for help .thanks in advance for helping and giving me advice .. all the very best to you all .. respeck monkeymoves .......

Wow ,

That seems too good to be true !

Nice looking peice of kit too.

Still lots of work to make it work though, strenghened bottom end , lower the compression massivley, find some sort of way to get the fuel in, probably could use the metro turbo hif 44 carb. megajolt for the mappable ignition .........

Generic kits, seen exactly the same thing being sold for Cinq's, Sei's, Punto's, Saxo's, Corsa's etc etc. Definitely not "plug and play"

Yes it's not plug and play but you get a lot of the parts needed to build your kit

Hi, turbo charging these little 2 cyclinder engines is possible but require a lot of work to complete a reliable finished item. i have a gt15 garret installed on my 126 and it does give it a kick, but over boost it and your conrod say hello through the side off your block. if running standard rods dont go mad with the boost pressures as i did. set a 0-60 time off no less than 15secs and all should stay in one peice.
air cooled, gt15 garret turbo with intercooler, 14x9" wheels with 225/40/14 toyos, front arb and disc brakes
