Pink Powder Puff vs Power Tools!!!

HI, im Paul. I intend to turn this pink shower of..... shock absorbers, into a red (onece again) Rally car replica...

I bought some wheels for just 30 beans!

And painted them SHOCKING YELLOW!!!

And today, ive started stripping the whole thing out ready for paint...

And then decided to take off the dash cover, and chop down the centre console, cos i dont want a stereo!!

all that PINK is starting to hurt my eyes, better go lie down for a moment lol...
im sure youll sort things out, just not sure how the "oh my god i cant see" YELLOW rims are going to fit the red paint... should have gone white...  anyways good luck getting the girlieness out of that thing... 

p.s. whats the mechanical side of the car like? engine good? brakes? cooling? HEAD GASKET?

p.p.s. i just remembered, how in the world did you manage to get that interior blower direction thingy (above the controls on the center console... ) out? i tried everything but it seems to be glued...

Well, i drove the car 23miles home and it seemed to go ok, no overheating. all that worried me was it seems to run a bit rough (but it was laid up for about 3 months) i think it needs a good service and a tune.. 4th gear seemed pointless using as my revs wernt climbing very quickly or stedily??? (maybe cos i normaly drive a 1.8 turbo injection scirocco?) Other than that it got me home. I could only seem to get 50mph out of it, and the revs felt far to low when i switched to 4th??

A few tips on helping these problems would be nice.. 

The blower thingy is impossible to remove, so i ended up unleashing my fury and snaped it  [ woops!! but i suppose its extra weight off... LOL 

Can any1 else think of any good weight reductions?? (sensible answers please!) also help with getting her engine in peak order would be good!

Now its time to weld up the holes in my sill, and the one in my floor, there tiny.. but still caused an MOT fail.. i was quoted 80 squid but i think i can get it cheaper..

Any thoughts?

The 4th gear sound about right, i mainly use it to maintain speed, and keep consumption down, it has poor acelerating capabilities... 

now that you got it you should do the standard service... oil, oil filter, plugs, points, condensor, air filter, new coolant, and stuff like that... should make it run smoother... also new brakes, fluid, drums if needed, cylinders... and so on...

only thing i can think of with weight reduction in mind is the spare wheel, who needs it 
(and bumpers, if not needed for MOT...)

p.s. didnt know that sciroccos had a turbo wersion? is it aftermarket or orig?

Thanks for that Gordan, Im losing the bumpers anyway... As for the service ill be on with all that as soon as!
Got alot of work to do, i also need to shop for new seats and a sporty steering wheel...

well if you are producing a rally rep some perspex windows can reduce a fair amount of weight.. glass is quite heavy..(really!)

I look at the 4th as an overdrive like lots of top spec old 911s used to have. Great for cruising. It is definitely the main difference that I noticed when switching up from my 500 box, then aircooled and now the Bis.

Losing the back seats are a good start to saving weight, but the more weight you want to save, the more practicality you will have to sacrifice, bus as you say, for a rally spec, practically in far from paramount.

well i came to realise i drive round all day in my car.. by myself.. so i have no need for extra seats.. and as i have a 5 seat scirocco with a massive boot.. the fiat wont need any of this..

Im thinking just one lightweight bucket seat??? maybe??

check the size my corbeua's only just fit (the padding on the sides touches the doors!)

There only small..im sure they will fit.. there 169 a pair, inc subframes.. ill have to adapt them to fit somehow

OK!! were do i start.. ive stripped the cars rusty bits down and started welding it all up (LOTS TO DO) its alot worse that i thought, but im doing a propper job on it..

Ive also spent all my pocket money on:
Cobra Classic bucket seats - Universal subframes x 2
Sabelt 3 point harnesses
Sparco Harness ahncors
Sparco Harness pads
A fiat 126 Boss
A 13'' Mountry Sporty steering wheel

New bulbs - all of them
A fire extinguiser (for that rally look)
New exhaust - Needs a chop and weld First
new gear knob
Pluss lots of fancy rally bits and bobs

Got some MDF and some acoustic cloth to make new door cards
and ro reline the back of the car where the seats were
 
And the list goes on and on!!!!
