pouring oil is/was a common practice here, people used to drill out holes in their skodas, zastavas, fiats and so on, fill them up with old oil, plug it, drive around for a week or so, and then unplug make some holes on the underside, needles to say some paklots got a bit dirrty

ive been told old engine oil is the best because it has carbon in after being burnt.

Vasoline isnt that expensive, there are lots of cheap makes, £1 shop for instance you get a large tub of it, just smear it on, its good because its clear and can go onto panels, i put it under the wheel arches and just smear it over eveything underneath.

Also its good to put it in the spare wheel well, wouldnt advise getting it on your spare tyres though, i think petroleum jelly rots rubber.

yes it does.  we have a 99p store here. you save a penny ( :arty:) but then you dont get anything unusal like vasaline .

Well ive been quite busy today, working on my BIS. Since the box is dead i took it out. As the engine was out i decided to clean all the yuck that has accumulated over the years and got this... 


then i tried to make one good box out of two broken ones (they had different problems) but after a few lagers i ended up with this... 



then i continued work on my alloys, and now theyre ready for their white paint...



Well so far so good, witing for my local ad papers to come out and see if someone will call offering a box, if not, ill buy a hole damn spare car...

My current short term plans are: -get the carb sorted
                                            -tyres for  the alloys
                                            -electrical windows
                                            -seat heater/ massager 
                                            -subwoofer wit amp. 
                                            -xenon lights
