Project 126 BIS almost complete...but...
« on: July 06, 2015, 12:18:59 AM »
After 6 years of welding..more welding...painting...more painting...ordering bits...ordering more bits...cursing...more cursing ..and lots of smiles...my 126 BIS is almost ready to take its first MOT in years. I did notice the other day that I had by accident crossed over the plug leads...and it didn't appear to have made a bit of difference ..still ran just as good. Do the water cooled engines fire every revolution would any body know?
Cheers
Ps I made the car show in Wakefield Park..as a spectator... There were three tidy 126's there and a couple of 500's ...many thanks to the owners who were around and showed me their cars.

Hi Ludd we need photos!!  ;D nice to hear that your perciverance has almost paid off  :D

Your right about the leads. They use a system called "wasted spark". Because the Pistons go up together (and there's only two of them) the double outlet coil fires both cylinders at the same time but obviously only one is on its firing stroke. The other is just coming to the end of its exhaust Stoke. It's a very simple way of doing it and means you don't need a rotor arm. Very ingeniously simple (if a little frustrating lol) engine.

Thanks for the replies re my Wasted Spark..indeed a clever trick. Re photos Ive tried to attach some to this reply but all my pics are jpeg mbyte size and system wont accept them. Ive tried compressing to zip files but still wont allow...keeps saying file too large...any ideas what i'm doing wrong??

An imaging hosting site is probably your best bet. Try photobucket.com upload your photos there then copy and paste it into your next post and the picture will be nice and clear. The image hosting site takes care of the size and file type for you :)
