Track control arms
« on: May 28, 2015, 08:37:09 AM »
We're there 2 different types of TCA fitted to the 126??

I've just ordered some replacement TCA's from Ricambio for my Bis and they've come as 2 individual arms, where as it's all one piece on my car. The 2 arms are linked together by a metal brace if that makes sense. Have I been sold the wrong part?

Sounds like you've bought an early style TCA. Early 126s had steering boxes which were connected by links and rods where later air cooled and later BIS models had the much better rack and pinion system which had a ball joint that simply screws on to the end of the rack arm. Do you have a picture of the one you bought?

This is what's on the car at the moment. Not the best picture I know, but this is looking in over the top of the tyre.

...And this is what Ricambio sent me.

You see how in the top photo it's all 1 piece - the two arms are joined together with a yoke, but in the 2nd picture it's 2 separate parts?

The bottom photo, these look like early air cooled and 500 arms.

Ah I see I thought you meant the track rod ends  ;D yes they are also from early air cooled ones although I can't see any reason why they wouldn't fit?

Yes I recon you are (both) right they're from an AC 126 or a Fiat 500, but not the right ones for the BIS.
Whilst they may fit I think the 1-piece version would have more rigidity.
I've discovered that Axel Gerstl lists the 2 types separately here...

Think I'm going to return these 2-piece items to Ricambio and just change the bushes in my 1-piece arms as the best course of action.
