Water pump shaft
« on: April 22, 2015, 05:18:19 PM »
Thought I would share this repair with you
The water pump shaft on my Bis had become heavily pitted due to having being stood with water around it
Not wanting to pay 75 Euro for a new one a method of repairing was required I had thought of plastic metal but wasn't sure if it would last
I eventually hit on the idea of a sleeve , so after turning down the diameter of the shaft to 12mm I then machined a sleeve to fit over the turned piece to bring the diameter back up to 16mm
The plus side of doing this is the sleeve is made of stainless steel so it will not rot again

Hope this helps others
