Winter Hybernation
« on: September 27, 2014, 11:36:11 AM »
That's it! 126 is off the road now 'till next April! Can't see the point in spending £140.00 for less than 1000 miles of motoring, so I have decided to wait until April and then tax it for 6 months. Definitely intend to cover more miles next year. The stupid thing is that my 1968 MGB is tax exempt but creates more than twice as much pollution, 28 (ish) to the gallon as opposed to 50+, I suppose it's the stupid politically correct green world we live in now. So sadly I will leave the 126 air cooled, no chance of frost damage, in the garage, while I drive my water cooled MG all year round!

Ridiculously high road tax for such a small car. Shame they don't do 6 months insurance.  As a low mileage person, it would suit me if they put on the price of petrol.

It's already on the price of petrol, if you think about it, so we are double taxed for every mile we drive, and the roads are still full of potholes! And here in Norfolk very bumpy if you stray off the main roads.
But at least Norfolk does offer a lot of country lanes to explore when the sun shines, with a dwindling number of good pubs thrown in.
