fiat 126 bis cbr1000rr

right this is my ongoing build but at the moment im at the striping down stage so i know what im dealing with.
i have the engine already (pics to follow)

and im going to be running mx5 front and rear subframes 

just a couple of pics to start things off :

looks like a solid start robin. why are you going to use mx-5 subframes?

Yeah it has some rust but not a lot.

I'm going mx5 as I have a spare one kicking about lol
I really don't like the standard suspension setup on the 126 so mx5 gives me good suspension plus it's wider and it solves the crapy brake problem , i could go on haha

So the mx5 us frames do work better? Is it worth while or just because they are there for you to use? Sounds like a mint idea in theory, let me know how it goes quite intrigued 😋

makes sense. i have driven loads of mx-5s and they are argueably the best handling cars made.
i would definately like to see how you incorporate the subframes into the chassis. i know someone on here is making a audi 2.7 bi-turbo 126 with both front and rear aud subframes thats a intresting project as well.

Well I need to make a frame to hold the engine and to hold the diff and to mount to the car so with a mx5 rear subframe I have good handling easy to adjust suspension , disc brakes ,  diff and drive shafts (diff will be gutted and chain driven ) so by making a stand alone unit that has all the above built on one frame it's just a case of bolting to the car .
I might end up just using the existing mx5 subframe as a jig and make a box section version ??
There will be plenty of cutting machining and welding what ever happens

Looks good. i love a good bike engine .

I never asked how are you going to sort out the gear stick and reverse.

What diff will you be using?

To start with I will be using the diff from the Mazda but once funds allow I will get a nice Quaife  .

As for reverse I am still in two minds wether to even have a reverse.... Ha
Gear shift will be a push / pull linkage , possibly cable but probably solid ?? I will have to see what lends itself to the job best .

If I do go with reverse it will just be a starter motor driving the diff and operated off a button on the dash
