I'm 15, so I have a lot of time on my hands in order to restore/modify this beautiful car, I have currently stripped the engine and gearbox out and soon to be rebuilding it. I am then going to be saving to have custom coil overs made, front disc's on (I know about the adapters etc.) respray, new wheels, new seats which I have just need to make some brackets, fix the engine, and then few little things to the engine... Any other ideas for things I could to this?

Nice to see a youngster taking an interest in these little cars - most teenagers want something more..... Well golf like lol so great stuff lets see some photos!

I know what you mean about what most youngsters are wanting lol, at first I only bought this cheap to practice my skills on as I a fancied a job in this kind of trade. I've now fallen in love with this little beauty! And I've got most of GCSE's now A in science A in maths and A* in English for a 15 year old seems fine for me now just saving up for all the parts I'm needing lol

I agree with gadge that most younger people don't like the smaller slower cars.
i have two 126s, one i have had since i was 17 im now 20. but i'm one of a few.
I'm also on the opel manta oweners club and there is a 15 year old on there doing the same thing with a manta but he had just finnished a morris minor that he had been restoring since he ws 12.

I like the seats,and the car looks good.

anyway good luck with you project and im glad your not just goig with the crowd like everyone else does, as said before golfs,civics ect.

I got my 126 at 17, I'm 20 now. I now have 3... Daily driver and resto projects. This forum is very good, and useful, there will be lots of help here if you need it.

There seems to be a pattern here, I had my first one when I was 17 there's just something about them that others don't get....... Sometimes it's not all about speed lol

As a car enthusiast there absolutely fantastic to work on as they are so simple. If your young then there great to learn on too you'll find it'll annoy the hell out of you at times but just press on and ask as many questions as you can! Most of us have taken ours apart more times than we can remember lol

thats true Gadge i have had my car for 4 years( i forgot i was actually 16 when i gt my first 126) and i have had my gearbox out and striped/repaired 2 times and my engine remved about 10 or 11 times and copletely striped one time and hd the head off one other time, i have had the carb striped cleaned and adjusted more times than i can reember(that means probaby more than 20 times because i run out of fngers and toes ). i don't think there is any part of my 126 that i havent striped or got to know in one way or another.

basically enjoy woring on the car mainly because there so simple and when ou finally get to drive it on a tight twisty road you will know what all the swearing was for.

Hi Dom,

Damn your making me feel old and useless at 26 . I wish I'd taken more of a practical interest at an earlier age... if you're interested in things and end up seriously thinking about venturing into engineering (and with such results...) you may want consider maths as a primary further study I can't stress how much I wish I paid more attention in maths at school and higher levels when going into any kind of higher education regarding engineering (mechanical/electronic/automotive!), thats if you want to go that way!

But then again... some panel beaters know nothing but the hammer and they're work is impeccable .

Good luck with your project, I look forward to seeing more... and its my favorite color! I'm wondering whether to paint my bis in the same color or leave it in NHS blue!

I've had all kinds of cars (rear engined MR2 <3 was one of my favourites from my earlier years lol.) but I have to day I learned things slightly backwards in terms of cars... electronic fuel injection and ecu's and sensors telling you whats wrong (although not always the case and a pain in the arse to fix half the time tracing wiring!) and now I have this purely mechanical 126 that shows me the simple side of things to break it down a little easier!
