BIS carb removal
« on: July 30, 2014, 07:06:28 AM »
I'm going to be rebuilding my carb on my BIS soon and I've come to a dead stop. I've removed quite a few in my time but when the engine has been removed so I had a look yesterday and can't seem ti figure out the best way to do it when the engines in the car? The front two bolts don't seem too bad but the one at the back looks tight as you like. Is this one of those BIS medleys that I have to put up with or is there a tried and tested way that i don't know about?

Thanks

Stubby short 10mm spanner did the trick for me... :).

Hi Gadge, I find that the 10 - 13mm open ended spanner in the original fiat toolbox does the job admirably although it is a bit fiddly you have to lift the carb while undoing the nuts, the same when you refit :D

Problem is pete I don't have the fiat tool box :D but I do have an old 10mm spanner that can be sacrificed for the cause  ;D

I've had my carb off 4 times this week using just a normal sized spanner. Took me 15 mins .Hope you got it all sorted.  Finally mine is running sweet. 300 trouble free miles so far lol
