Compression test
« on: July 14, 2014, 03:39:50 PM »
Trying to get to the bottom of my smoking oily bis... today I put a new rocker cover on and the leak there has stopped, however the exhaust is still pretty smokey. Just ran a compression test and the cylinder closest to the cars rear is reading about 10.5, the other side is reading 12. Suggesting that the compression ratio may be a little high although can't hear any pinking. Readings didn't change with oil squirted down either plug hole... i think 1 bar difference is maximum difference between cylinders so again slightly more... A problem??

Need to get to the bottom of things so may end up putting the cc700 head on and seeing what's happening then but maybe I should take the pistons out and start thinking about stripping the whole engine down!
