engine bay dimensions.
« on: June 07, 2014, 03:12:30 PM »
Does anybody have measurements of the 126p engine bay?  I'm getting my 126 in 2 months and am doing as much prep as i can. i want to figure out if i can cram a rotary into the back.  if it fits , i'm sure the hardest part will be finding a transmission of some sort that can cope with it but i'll figure that out after i settle on an engine.  i'm hoping to not have to cut the car into a million pieces to make an engine work, some necessary metal removal/addition is fine but i don't want to have to totallly ruin it to make it work.

i want an hysterical sleeper and i love the 126. My wife grew up in poland in the 80's and i think her parents would poo a brick if they saw maluch pass them on the freeway.

Scuby engines fit take a look at Z Cars, a car mod shop in Britain, they have fitted a couple to the original fiat 500. They have mated a Brat 1800cc to a 126 gearbox and installed in a 500, they also used a 2000 or 2500 turbo with a modified scuby box, mod parts from Australia and installed in a 500.  There are build videos on the net, can't remember where though. I have seen a rotary in aTriumph Herald, looks as tough it would fit in a 126 with little modification.
