Brake lights working intermittently

Hi all, I've recently noticed my break lights only work sometimes.. I'll be driving down the road, press brakes and the person behind me either slows down or keeps coming then slams on when they realise I'm closer than they think. It's quite worrying...

I tested them using a mirror and my garage and they only work when I sometimes press the pedal. Any ideas?

I have had something similar and it turned out to be a sticky switch or it could be the connections making and breaking.

I've had a look, the brake lights work perfectly if I operate the switch by the pedal by myself but then they dont work if I use the pedal...

I have no idea what to do.

Have you tried adjusting the switch on the screw thread?

Are you suggesting that Chris has a screw loose Pete?

Had this happen on my 126.

It turned out that the female spade connector that clipped onto the pedal switch was loose. An adjustment with a pair of pliers fixed the issue.
