What are you wanting to do with a V5?

I've bought a fiat that i'm planning on restoring but it doesn't have a v5 and I would love to get it on the road when it's done

What you intend to do is illegal, because you would be registering the car with false documents :o

The way forward if you don't know the original registration number would be to send a letter to Fiat UK with the Vin number, ask them when the car was manufactured and ask if they know the registration number that was issued to the car.

Then the car needs MOT-ing on the Original Vin/Reg number, Once you have MOT - Insurance you can register it again at the DVLA either on the original number or an age related plate

If you know the number plate then getting a replacement v5 is easy. Cost about £35 last time I did it. Might be an idea to do a check on the history before you do any work. If it has been registered scrapped that's it, a reshell is the only thing you can do.

Out of interest, what's the registration number or the last letter on the registration number on the car?
