Electric conversion

Does anyone have any info on readily available bits to do an electric conversion on a 126?

Sounds like a great idea   to get more oomph out of my 126 bis. It's a shame Fiat/Lancia didnt squeeze a 1 ltr in it back in the day It would make getting up hills so much easier.     Need a deep wallet by the looks of it, going electric

if you want to go up hills a bit of nos and you would fly up any hill, and then re-build the engine.

but on a serious note, i have thought of doing that myself but then i thought if i want to do a long journey then its a bit of a pain but around town it would be great.

Can be done but minimum 1k on batteries maybe more if you want lithium ions. Check out evalbum... theres Eman's blue 126 in Malta I think it is... and then there is this awesome one from Petr Kortanek which goes fast as hell, he ended up using a Skoda 130 gearbox. I've seriously considered it as a future option and could be done for £2-3K I reckon. They're are some really nice electric motors though. Best to do your research... there was a really good looking pair of motors put together that I was considering but I can't remember what they were exactly now lol.

Motors themselves are so small it makes that part easy...

Usually machine lightened flywheel + adapter plate for the gearbox is required...

Basically have to weld a frame to support the batteries probably in the back... the possibilities are endless and range is actually really good. The 126 is a perfect candidate! Enfield were doing it back in the 70's but with today's batteries the tech is available to buy off the shelf.

I thought about starting to CAD up an adapter plate for the gearbox from my spare gearbox housing lol.

Serious torque monsters though it seems and evwest inspired me a little with they're MR2 (which i've also got hiding away somewhere!) which looks damn quick... Petr's 126 is apparently faster than a Nissan Leaf with acceleration and comparible to a Tesla+ lol. His range is around 180km and has covered 35K+ with no maintenance! Sounds like heaven and a worthwhile investment to me. Especially as the actual cost of running is next to nothing lol. Look at it fly here:

 There is definitely one in the UK too as I sold the guy a gearbox for it. Wondering how a standard box would handle the torque of an electric engine.
 I like that Czech one. The owner says in the clip it can do up to 70mph  .

Yeah its a rocket! He's been pretty helpful when I asked about it . Depends if you want regenerative braking, What motor to go for...

Could avoid using a gearbox perhaps... drive each wheel with its own motor .

The Curtis controllers are quite programmable and you can define torque curve etc. A nice battery monitoring system would be on the cards to!

He has broken a driveshaft previously but not surprised with the torque it looks like it's putting out!

Really... i just want to be able to park at the front of Ikea to charge up lol

i agree with all you guys like i said iwanted to do one myself and they would be quick as hell but another thing i would like is another power storage devise other than batterys (and not hydrogen power cells), the trouble is the batterys in an electric car not the motor i do love motors in anything especially cars, have any of you seen on youtube put in "white zombie" its an american that has made the words fastest electric drag car. when they get a better way of storing the electricity (i do have som idears but they are not cheap) then to me it will be worth while.

but in the mean time i think anyone who does it congratulations.
