Mrs BV's 1973 restoration...
« on: November 27, 2013, 08:18:59 AM »
Fingers crossed, we've got Mrs BV's 1973 restoration booked in for later this year.  We've had a whole year but the chap who is doing it is very good and worth waiting for.  It's fairly solid and the aim initially is to get it recommissioned and through the MoT before pushing it up at some point next year subject to funds.  It's been stood nearly 20 years so is likely to need some mechanical parts and I'm putting a list together so would really appreciate any ideas around what I should be ordering so I can have it all ready when it finally goes in. I have some thoughts but I'm sure I'll miss something so please shout out.

Thanks, Chris, I'm not too worried about the panels...it's the mechanics where I need advice.

My list so far is:
- wheel cylinders
- gaskets
- RHD headlamps
- sidelights and indicators
- choke, accelerator and starter cable
- tyres

What else will I need for a car that's lovely but has been stood for 20 years?

It's a beautiful blue just like my favourite blue car - we'll be twinnies!

LOL! I still remember that advert and makes me chuckle even now.
I also quote it at every opportunity that presents itself. :)

 >:( Damn you Scotty for bringing back the ad that I loved  >:(
Why ? because I then clicked on the Hamlet cigar ads and nearly wet my pants  :D
Trouble is I am old enough to remember the ads so I have to try hard not to do any wetting  :P

My mechanic chap has been busy on other jobs but finally making some progress with all the mechanics sorted and the welding underway! I can't wait to see this car done, it's going to be a minter! I still haven't figured out how to load pictures to this site, but here's my Facebook link to show progress so far!  ;D
