New forum member intro...
« on: September 25, 2013, 11:34:10 AM »
Hi guys, not actually a 126 owner as yet. I've been a VW head all my days, although I have worked in a Fiat dealer for a number of years. I've always had a penchant for small or quirky cars. The only Fiat I have owned in the past was a '94 Cinqucento Sporting in black & I loved it.

As I don't have the luxury of an endless amount of funding & a place to store a car when not in use, I currently run a 2000 model VW New Beetle, but it just isn't cutting the mustard for me right now.

So I've got to looking at the Fiat 126. I have fond memories of a friends mother having a brand new red BIS in 1990 called Wullie. Just loved the noise and character the car seemed to have for me even then.

So here I am looking on the forum to gain some more info & knowledge about 126's, hopefully ending in sourcing one for myself.

Sorry...just realised I forgot to add I'm in Stirling Central Scotland.

Thanks for reading guys.

Hay Bigred,

I'm originally VW (aircooled) owner and a noob around here so welcome.

I recently got my first 126 and I'm head over heals with it.
I find the 'feel' is a lot like old VW's as in a basic old car/van but the one thing I've noticed is the attention I get.
DONT get one if you're a wall flower or a grumpy bugger.

Hey Scotty, thanks for the reply. I am a grumpy bugger but don't mind the attention!!  :D I'd rather be looked at for driving something out of the ordinary than blend in with all the rest of the modern euro boxes.

I think that's what I'm missing from my life, a car which has an older feel like you describe. I do love my New Beetle but it has no soul!!

Exactly how I feel, but stupidly common classics are as bad, how can you have a mile of mini's and still feel individual? Aircooled beetles and campers and morris minors are the same, my BMW E36 touring was rarer than all of them.
As for the 126, it still makes my face hurt if I drive it for more than 15 minutes due to smiling so much. I've had around 50 vehicles, some flash some fun some interesting some boring. I would not swap any for the 126, it's the dogs danglers ;D
