Yup, job done  :D

2 hours over Saturday afternoon saw the old cable slide out easily, the new one slide in just as easily, and then me furiously trying to locate the cable clamp (just in front of the engine) back onto the stud.  I nearly went mental as there was zero room for my pudgy mits to manoeuvre the thing into position, and then getting the cursed nut onto the frickin' thing.  Took twice as long doing that as anything else!!  :???:

Still, the result is like a shot of adrenaline into the old girl, and she's flying now.  Still that little crunch into first, but being careful with that and hopefully she'll be alright for another few miles yet.  Thanks for the offer of the gearbox tho Richard.

Cheers again guys.  Just a reverse lamp bulb to replace now and it's off to the MOT.

Sweet  :D

you don't need a reversing light for the MOT.

Really?  I thought if you had it on the car, it had to work.  Ah well, will find out in a few weeks.
