As members explained in your previous post you can put what ever engine and gearbox in you Bis as long as you fabricate a firewall and have very deep pockets, there is nothing that fits as a direct replacement without fabricating special parts, 99.9% of members on our forum are quite happy driving there 126's with the standard engine and if they can get there motors up to 70mph it puts a big smile on there face, Unless you know what your doing or know someone who does, which ever route you choose its going to cost you allot of money Personally just enjoy the 126 as it is or buy a Citroen AX GT or Saxo VTS or something similar.

I work 16 miles from home. My BIS is standard apart from no airbox (previous owner installed a pancake filter really badly, it wasn't air tight at the base plate and the retaining bolt damaged the top of the carb) and I believe it may have bigger jets. I still manage to overtake several cars most days. Admittedly it needs lots of forward planning but the sense of acheivement is amazing!! I have no desire to modify mine to any great extent. I may one day buy a near death aircooled to alter.
I have had fast cars (ex police 24v senator further tuned by drug runners, caught by police helicopter, searched thoroughly, put back together badly, I bought it at auction for £50, had a displayed 170mph out of it!!) and I have built fast cars (mk2 polo, lightened with a tuned golf 1300 on the 1000 polo box, 1600 sierra carb, rolled arches, big rubber, nothing could touch it in the mountains) but not one of them put as big a smile on my face as the 126. I have had near 50 vehicles of all types from the 126 to a 1965 bedford coach and a winnebago.
A 126 is the wrong car if you want power unless you have deep pockets and serious skills.
Hardly any succesful engine swaps have been done so we really don't know what is the best engine to use.
If you have the skills get yourself to a breakers yard with a tape measure, if you don't have the skills but have the deep pockets, take it to someone and get them to do it.

I think that the most power anyone has got out of a 126 engine was about 48hp out of an aircooled. Check out smallcox's car, lots of work.

Many have attempted to install a bike engine (1000R Yamaha engine) in a Bis, but I have yet to see one on the road legally. It is going to be an engineering feat to install a 1000R, as it will require a complete modification to the car's make up and structure (suspension, brakes, structural et al) to make it driveable and safe. Should you manage to convert it, it will also be quite a challenge to get the car Mot'd.

Many of these so called "Bis engine conversions" have ended as unfinished projects, despite the best of intentions. Most end up as scrap. I think deep pockets do come into play here as Pete and Marc states, but no one, to my knowledge, despite their mechanical background and funding have successfully converted a Bis to whatever engine you choose. Just enjoy the car as it is!
