Iv got our first 126 mainly for my girlfriend..(she don't no about it yet)  Been talking wheels and stearing issues already, the car has an mot till nov 2013 so that's good news

Some advice came in to Greece the stearing parts as its heavy on the steering, iv looked under it and it looks dry! So once iv given it a good Greece up I will report back to the experts

Another issue iv been meaning to ask about is the doors, they need a very good slam to shut properly. Is there a common issue with this? Will a new latch be required.. Cheers.

They may have dropped (happened on my De Ville).

Basically, rather than slam if you lift upwards when you close they should do so more easily.

My mechanic friend fixed mine, a bit scary and probably risky unless you know what you are doing, but he lifted it with a bit more force and realigned it so it closed properly without the need to lift it each time.

I had the door problem once on a car. I put a jack underneath the door and it bent upwards a little which solved it! Don't blame me if it goes wrong though

Quick test , open doors then try and lift them . If you have play then the hinges are worn. You may also see wear on the bodyshell catch, this catch has some adjustment on it. There is some adjustment on the hinge mounting bolts if you just loosen them you may find a better fit but remember gravity. On my 500 I had to put a couple of washers behind a hinge to get a good fit. Doors can also bind on the trim if it is out of alignment .

Iv sorted one of them by lifting it il mess about with the other this week, there's been a major development in the form of my girlfriend not liking lhd at all, panicked her somewhat so lucky for us a rhd bis came up for sale 10 miles away so we went and bought that this weekend haha, when I get on the computer I will upload some pics
