My 1990 Bis

Hi all, its about time I put up some pics of my Bis!

In September I moved into my new Uni house in oxford and set about finding a new car to replace my old ST170 that I just sold. I wanted something old school but not your normal golf, mini or beetles, that when I started looking for a 126. I came across this bis, so after winning it on ebay I went up the road to get it.

And here she is




After driving it around oxford for about month I hit a pothole and snapped the leaf spring, and on replacing it thank god a did it was heavily rusted whilst I was doing that I de-bumpered it for a much cleaner look. Then a another few months of trouble free motoring, I was on my way back home for xmas and the throttle cable snapped on the M25, never mind I used a pair of vice grips to hold it together and get in back home.



Once home I treated her to a full service, fixed the throttle cable and put a chrome rear bumper on. And this is how she stands today 




Santa came I got me some new classic bucket seats (that still need fitting) and a wooden gear knob. That’s all for now, but hopefully there will be some more updates over the coming year when fund allow

ST170 is a Ford focus hatch.

126 is far better!  ;D

Agreed the 126 is much more fun to drive!  :)

got back to Oxford from Kent in the snow, and i happy to report i made it with no problems this time.

Wheels look great! I'm not sure the chrome rear bumper/black side trims/no front bumper works though, but it still looks good :)

You will need to plug or repair the from bumper holes though. More water can flow into the spare wheel well - make sure the water drain is working. Also the conversion to chrome bumpers in the rear means that the rear exhaust and other undersides are exposed. That said, the car looks great! Love the Cinquecento Sporting alloys. It really suits the car!

Same wheels as on mine, how does I get on with the mot as I'm worried they stick out too far

i know doesn't look the best, however the side trim will be removed and welded and a chrome front bumper will be added in time/ when i have the money

i think it had them on for the last mot, but i was not the owner, however i cant see it been a problem as they dont stick out on mine.

Done a bit more work to the bis this weekend.

First got some parts for vd laad including a chrome front bumper!



Also got a new/old steering wheel off ebay



just need to get rid of more plastic bits! might take off the gutter trim today, then just need to get the side plastic sorted, but i dont think i have the money for that, any know how much its going to cost for the side plastic area welding a painting?

wow i have not update this since march last year  :o right a few things have happened to the car, first got my old school race style seats in and that was about it for a long time. i have just been driving and enjoying her whilst saving money for the respray, it finally went in on Saturday for the work to start, welding to the holes from the trim ect and a bare metal respray in pearl white, so will look a million dollars when done, hopefully i will get so picture of it mid restoration. just cant wait to get it back!

right time for some more updates, my car should be back on the road in a few weeks just need to get it mot'ed, there shouldn't be any problems just need a few things sorting and it will pass (fingers crossed).

I have purchased a few new odds and ends for the Bis including 4 new tyres, a battery, mirrors and window trims/seals.

now for the best bit pictures! i decided against pearl white because it look to modern, so i went with an old ford white in the end.
