« on: January 09, 2013, 11:30:25 PM »
Hey really need a 126 as my first car, but on a tight budget and a little picky!
Preferably right hand drive and a budget of 1300 :)
Needs to be solid and sound engine and gearbox, no knocks or noises  :D
Needs to have tidy paintwork! MUST BE ON BRITISH PLATES AND REGISTERED  ;)

Other than that.. Fire away!  ;D

no knocks or noises   ::) ??? :D

Have you driven a 126  ;) :D ;D  Whatever 126 you buy you really need to expect there to some work to be done for the budget.

I am sure you find a car though.

I agree that prices have gone up but you can still find good buys. You might find a car for much less than that that only needs a little work. This might be ok if you are familiar with working on cars or have a local garage that you really trust and are used to older cars.

Make sure you defiantly want one, first car ,

If you haven't driven or even been in one it is abit different to driving school cars, back to basics

Find a member on here willing to take you out in one

If you are still dead set in having one after that there are always cars coming onto eBay / preloved or
car and classic

For that budget you are probably after a bis more than an air cooled

Hope I've helped  ;D

You would be best having someone who knows 126's with you. The good ones are noisy with an odd gearbox, the bad ones are just worse. Also having someone who knows the rot spots with you would be helpful. There are members all over the country, just ask, the worst they can do is say no.

Found anything ? Just remember that they will all howl in first gear. The legacy of a straight cut gear set
