'FIAT 126 1983 RARE BAMBINO EDITION'

hey guys thanks for the welcome
couldnt sleep last night,kept thinking about the "bambino"
any way im still v interested in this motor,however im not sure what to pay for it,any ideas?
im not too bothered about the seller and his speel,as long as you think the car is good,
can any of you experts give me a low-down on how much to offer this "naive" seller

Hi Orangemonkey.
It must be a bit disheartening walking into the middle of this conversation!
We all aim to be honest about what we we sell to make sure the next owner walks away happy, hopefully for a good few years, which makes it all the more frustrating when someone uses less than honest means to try to boost the sale price of a 126.
I don't know what to suggest in terms of a price. I would have a better idea after looking over the car thoroughly, but my gut feeling is that I wouldn't be willing to trust the seller. If he has been less than honest about the provenance of the car, then there is a fair chance he is being less than honest about the rest of it.
I would not spend £500 on a car unless I was happy with the seller.

Now I think the seller wasn't very truthfull, but sometimes you can't say no,

If you have no intensions of selling it on in the near future you can splash the cash, as the prices are going up

I never see myself selling either of my 126s, I can't stop spending my money on them

All I can cay is practical classics say a really good one is about £1750 (for the best) No more than £2000

Ask the owner exactly what engine mody have been done. Post some Pictures, we will notice any external mods very quickly. Look underneath along sills for welding.

The car has been resprayed, so lots of repairs will have been covered up.

Look at the vin plate. Under front bonnet, rear left hand side.
If it is in polish tell the owner.

The car looks very nice, no one has denied that at all. Sadly the seller is not to be trusted by his replies to questions.

My price would be £2-2.5k that is top money for a Polish 126.

You can have mine and spares for £1000 but is needs love

Even then that is being generous. My orange Polish one I had from Jan before was stunning, pretty much as it left the Polish factory and I paid £1,300 for that one nearly 5 years ago.

well i disagree with the price as I have one with 9k and in really good nick and has brown on the log book not bambino  . Its worth what someone is prepared to pay if I were selling. I would not heed to much of practical classic prices as they are often wrong imho

But yours is a car that exists, if you scroll up you will find a picture of this car without the Bambino gubbins, also the engine mods are completely unverified, and after all of this being made clear to the owner (politely to start with) he still insists that it is an Italian built special edition. It was made 4 years after the last Italian 126.

The prices that we discuss are certainly not the Practical classic prices. I have been on the forum sice it started in in its original style, I watch every 126 sold on Allegro, Ebay, Gumtree..... Prices fluctuate and have certainly gone up over the years.

But as we have all said, it is not the price the guy wants that is annoying it is that this is just a polish 126 that has been done up, To what standard I have no idea as the seller refuses to answer any questions. I have asked repeatedly for Engine pictures and have been told that his camera is playing up, The car is too far away from home ......

If this was a honest advert there would be  no problem at all.

I would like to weigh in here, in 2009 i went to purchase a bambino 126 from this man, and the copy of practical classics was on the bonnet of the vehicle, it is not this bambino that you speak of it is one of the other 3, the dealer is a massive ferrari enthusiast he owns a 250 gto and a california sat in his show room which he shows at beaulieu every year, i highly doubt a man respected in the ferrari community would tarnish his reputation, also this polish build one gentleman has stated is utter b***'s the bambinos clearly have italian instructions stickers and its also clear from the chassis plates etc, so i would like you all to contact practial classics and find this magazine edition as i do know it exsits, so we can all put a end to this moaning on if it does or not exsist. it quiet clearly does, thankyou for listening

I have every edition of practical classics from 2009. I can get the number plates from every 126 in them if you like. I often chat to a certain bauer media editor, so I will ask him who is best to ask.  I reported it to practical classics last time, oddly later that day the practical classics references were removed.
 If it was built in 1983 it is polish.
Bambino was just the German name for the 126.

Jamie, this seller has been repeatedly asked for information on the car, he simply ignores any questions or has an excuse why he can not tell if the vin is in Polish. His camera was not working so he could not send engine pictures and he knows nothing about cars so does not know what mods have been done.
In the past he had spoken to the Italian that remembered this very car on the assembly line in Italy, being made for a well known racing driver.
This has now been removed from the listing.
If he simply answered questions honestly, proved the car is Italian, Bambino ( German name for the 126) edition, commissioned by Ferrari  .
Even if he looked at the VIN to see if it was Polish, that may help a little.
I think the guy bought the car, paid too much and wants to get his money back.
The same problem came up when this car was last sold a few years ago.

Hi i think your right the guy just does not know enough about it, bear in mind it is RHD, did they even make RHD cars in poland, you may know better than me. I can promise though that when the car was sold in november last year it was being sold by the ferrari guy with the showrrom and now it is being sold by a dude in Birmingham, probably the one who bought it from the showroom.

The car is awesome though and he states in his reply to me via ebay that it has never been painted and will come with a paint technicians report to prove this, im going to look at it later and will check the chassis plates and stickers from factory etc.
