It looked ok.........but
« on: September 06, 2012, 07:17:00 PM »
Having got the white 500L (see avatar) home  ; after storage in Dads garage ,put a bit of fuel in it,plumbed in a new battery and after a few turns up she fired and ran a treat...Not bad after 18 months,  except when I came to move her , the car , not the girl in it, it would`nt go in gear. >:(...it transpired the clutch plate adhered to the pressure plate. COW. An hour or so later engine / gearbox out, clutch off , free it up, back in the car  :). As if I havent enough to do. ::)

Don't want to spoil your day but that clutch plate rusting onto the flywheel is a very common thing with cars that have been laid up . Generaly if you run the engine to get it well warmed up then with a good few revs the vibration will free it off. It will free off quicker if you can drive it  :)

With transits, when they did that, we used to start them in gear, frees em off quick.

I usually operate the starter, as it jumping forward or reverse push and release the clutch pedal this usually releases the clutch plate :D

If you use a stick or similar to hold the clutch pedal. Then retire to the living room to enjoy an episode of "Murder She Wrote" or "last Of the Summer Wine". In no time at all you will be greeted from the garage by a very pleasing "ker-boing" sound.
Don't forget to record the end of Murder She Wrote.

You know what, i tried all of those. But after I gave those options up  the lot came out and went back innow freed up, but whilst under the car putting the flywheel guard back on i though one could ease the plate with a thin screwdriver whilst another person pushes the clutch pedal down, as there are slots in the pressure plate to do so.
