Fuel Tank

I need to check the breather pipe on the fuel tank. There is a distinct smell of petrol when I fill the tank.
Is it fairly accessible if I just remove the rear panel inside? Do I need to remove anything else?

I'm not certain, I changed the tank, so did everything from underneath. But I think someone said that you can remove the interior side panel for access as well, you may have to drop the tank a little bit as well.

Thinking about it, the panel beneath the seat only gives access to the sender unit, the breather is further to the side, so the interior side panel or drop the tank a bit are probably the way to go. It has these on, so you need a bit of space https://encrypted-tbn3.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSUhNqMYAw6HpSMi4xGkB4q8AOPKMpJUB71e3H6ws6WJpIA3GYD.

Our little cars never cease to amaze me in the ways that they will test us but in my experience petrol smells have come from perished filler hoses, leaking tanks and leakage at the carb.

As it only happens when the tank is full I'm going with the breather pipe. I hope that's all is. Now all I have to do is drive the car to empty the tank a bit. That should take a month.
