tonite while driving home i experienced lots of vibration i thought it was the exhaust ( sounded like when a heat shield comes loose ) . as i pulled off the  a 249 something fell off . i stopped and looked in case i had left something large on the slip road but could not see anything . the car now sounds like it is blowing it was too dark to see tonite what is missing but the car now goes like poo off a shovel . it also does not vibrate any more . any ideas what could have fallen off .

It may be the tail pipe?
Mine fell off along time ago and made an exhaust type blowing sound.

no the tail pipe is ok the exhaust is intact , perhaps the bolts for the exhaust connection to engine have fallen out ? but god does it go now

all this talk of speed and modification Michael, i think hes been on the forum and thought better get my skates on.

does the car sound louder that usual? it its running quicker than usualy, it must be either somthing to do with exhaust or air system, breaks wernt stuck on and now unlocked themselves?

regards

no my brakes were all replaced before a recent mot . i found out today that my "spoon" on top of the carb had loosened off so it was pulling in a lot of air which would explain the rapid exeleration . i have one theory though i dont know what sort of baffle is in the silencer it could be possible that it has disintergrated and subsequently fell out . i have some sort of blowing from the box somewhere but cannot find the hole it might be a seam as they are only rolled . i cannot be bothered to take the thing off to have a proper look as its my only day off today and i need to play dad and beat the wife .

i have finally got it , part of my exhaust did fall off. the bracket on the silencer to be precise. i found out this as today my exhaust fell off!!! i had just took my bis off the clock 85mph+. as i came on to the slip road near my home the tone of my engine changed to say the least.the two downpipes remain and my car now sounds like a custom chopper like you see on the telly , i would like to take it back out to see if i can get more speed out of it like this , but my wife wont let me .......i can now use the two remaining downpipes to fabricate a custom box , he he he . i will have to have another car with me next time i thrash my car as i cannot guage my speed anymore!, having fun breaking things .mick , bis13.

If you manage to fabricate an exhaust, I would be very interested. I am thinking how to do mine, so any help would be appreciated
