Maluch from Holland
« on: May 10, 2012, 07:45:45 PM »
Hiya,

Recently I've finally bought a Polski fiat 126p. Last year we bought a fiat seat 133 (in a way this is a similar car to the 126, its a bit larger however), although it needed much work to put in. In the end it turned out to be too much for me to handle, so last week we traveled to Poland to buy a running 126 instead. I have been living in the Netherlands for 13 years now, however I originate from Poland and therefore I always wanted a real maluch.  ;)

At this moment the fiat is still registered on Polish plates but I tend to switch the plates for Dutch ones within a month from now on. There's still a little bit work to do but I don't expect huge repairs in the nearest future.  :) For APK (the equivalent of the British MOT) I (hopefully) only have to change one of the ball joints.

Here's a pic of my former fiat 133 (sold it last week):

Even got the chance to photograph them together:

Hello and welcome to the Forum. Your 126p looks in good condition! What sort of work does it need?

For now only  one of the ball joints really needs replacing. A few days ago I changed the tires. Maybe I have to switch the front window because of some deep scratches (it depends if this affects MOT).

At this very moment I (or actually my father) is working on building speakerboxes as there are none present.

The car is still not ready for APK/MOT.. Foud a lekkage in the fueltank, the axle arms are rotten and some rubbers have to be replaced.

Good news however, the seats are replaced by a nicer grey leather set.  :D

This is how the car is "parked" at the moment  :-X

I really hope to finish the car soon. The total costs are running high now, so I hope there will be some money left to import the 126 officially when are parts are replaced.  :(

Last monday I had the import check at RDW. I hope to recieve to all of the paperwork (well, the vehicle registration) today or at least tomorrow. So if all goes well, I will be able to do MOT and drive around very soon.

Unfortunately there are also new problems with the maluch. The battery seems to be damaged due to a long time of not running. There may be a powerleakage somewhere, in worst case the dynamo might be dead. At this point te car can only be started with the help of jumper cables. Because of lack of money I'm not able to pay for a new battery so I have to wait until all is really done.  :(
