club126uk National Meet - suggestions?
« on: April 14, 2012, 01:03:48 AM »
Seeing the Maluch World Meeting in Slovakia slip through our fingers this year, some talk of arranging a National meet was mentioned, but that thread is disappearing... so I thought I'd resurrect it here!

Hazey-n-Marc threw the first option into play with this: "A friend of mine has just got a hotel in Clare in Suffolk.  They cater for ramblers quite a bit, so there are cheap basic rooms. I was going to see about what she would think of a (is there a word for a group of 126's?) buzz of 126's turning up for a couple of days. It is within 2 hours for a few of us, I know of at least three other members in that radius."

That seems like a good suggestion to start with, so if folk agree, Marc, can you see what the owner would think of this??

Things I'd like for a National Meet:
I'd personally like to have somewhere where there is a place to stay for those that want a comfy bed, but also camping available (my own preference).
Ideally a bar nearby that stays open LATE.  :P
I think the facilities should be flexible enough to take a handful but to grow to take quite a few more (seeing how the MWM grew, you never know!).
And I would suggest somewhere round about the middle of the country, or the middle of where us in club126uk are located (has anyone worked that out on a map??  I think there are facilities on these forums for adding a map with location pin points for each member...?)
As for the date, I'd prefer July time in summer hols for those of us who've reproduced to bring the small people, and warm enough to camp comfortably.

Anyway, let's discuss!  ;D

Been trying to get over to see her for a few weeks, will get on it.

Looking at the member map, (just uk sorry), central for all would probably be near nottingham.

I should also be finding out about lifestyles in the next few weeks, it is free, camping is cheap, I can see six b,n,b's from my window, and I'm only a two minute walk from where it all is. Will mark the festival site on the members map if we get the go ahead.

How many people would be interested in Clare suffolk meet, need an idea of numbers to get the discount as low as possible.

How many would be interested in lifestyles, have a meeting on the 26th, would be good to know numbers.

I would be interested in a national meet. Summer sounds great, although due to the olympics it could throw a spanner in the works for me this year, however I think its a great idea, and if I can attend I would.

I know some people moan about distance etc, but if it was a weekend once a year, roughly at the same time with plenty of notice, im sure most people would attend.

We could even organise regional convoys, so no-one has to travel on their own so that worry about reliability wont be as bad.

Just a thought.

I am not competing myself :D so a meet would be great. Billing was fairly central (if you lean the map to the right)
But maybe miss the Max Power festival.

Due to members being situated throughout the U.K. Scotland and Wales Its very hard to organise a national meet that will attract more than a few members for a long weekend, This year there are allot of members that have bought tickets to Retro Rides at Prescott Hill so it looks like there will be at least 8+ 126's/500 Members there, In September there is the National Microcar Rally Weekend in Great Yarmouth which would be Ideal for you guys in the East. As we get more active members there's no reason why we can't organise our own Events but for the time being i would suggest if we all want to meet up come down to Prescott Hill, If Ralph and Frazer can drive down from Scotland then there's no excuse for not coming down for a great weekend of eating burnt sausages and drinking cheap plonk  :D

We are hoping to do Retro rides, just trying to sort the babysitters and work commitments out.
