North East Metrocentre Car Show
« on: April 07, 2012, 01:35:03 PM »
Not sure if many people on here are from the north east, but I thought it would be worth mentioning. The show is on the 2nd Wednesday of every month starting in April and ending in October, and starts around 6pm. It is not an official event, rather an organised meet up in a car park.

The first show of this year is on April 11th. The show is held in the car parks of Toys 'R' Us, McDonalds and Pizza Hut next to the Metrocentre, so there's choice of food and if anyone gets bored you can do some evening shopping at the Metrocentre. There's usually a really decent turnout providing the weather is dry, and there is a whole host of different cars. There's American cars, hot and street rods, classic cars, rare cars, unique cars and the odd high performance car. Unfortunately the north east doesn't have an abundance of 126's, and I'm sure when mine makes its first appearance it will be the only one. Last October an original Fiat 500 turned up so I'm hoping that will be there again.

Definitely worth taking a look at if you live nearby, and I will post some pictures after the show :)

Well, I was very impatient to get to the car show, so I went in my 126 straight there. I arrived realising I forgot my camera. Luckily as my family were still at home getting ready, I texted my sister to bring it along. After taking 3 photos it said the memory was full - left the memory card in my computer!!! I will get far more pictures in next month's meetup, but here's a couple of photos:

That's my dad's car on the left and my Bert next to him. Bert got a good reception, I even saw someone make their little kid stand next to him for a size comparison!

There were plenty of different classics there, lots of minis, mk1 and mk2 escorts, hot rods, beetles etc, and despite the rain that had been on and off all day, lots of people turned up and it stayed dry :D

Wow I got a great surprise today - 2 other Fiat 126's turned up! Will post pictures later, not sure if the owners are on this forum, I couldn't see anyone nearby the little cars :(

One was a turquoise-green left hand drive air cooled, the other an H reg right hand drive blue Bis :)

Shame about the weather though, barely got a chance to get a good look around :(
