The poor little 500 has been round the round the block but not off of it since before Christmas so gave it a run today. Starter ring now very dodgy but started OK , the worst fitting exhaust I have had is now blown at the head so sounds like a tank but what the hell, it was sunny

Been driving the 126 quite a bit so going back to a very worn non-syncro gearbox required a bit more concentration but it was fun and the disc brakes are so much better than the drums on the 126.
Managed to squeeze £24 worth of petrol in at Tesco, went in to pay and the guy in the kiosk said "don't tell me , it's a Fiat 500 Steyer Puch"
Afraid not I said then he went on to tell me about how he had been a marshall at various races in the 60/70s and at one the 3 car Steyer Puch team turned up and swept the board. Slightly embarrasing as the pumps were busy and as the queue built up behind me he just told people to go to the other till and just wanted to chat

Well it was Tesco and every "Tittle Tattle Helps"

Car just about started as the starter dog ripped into the starter ring so thought it best to head for home but I had to post that all important oversize Mother's Day card so left the car on the double yellow lines with the engine running outside the post office & did the deed
