Joint or separate cylinders

Whats the benefit of joint cylinders as opposed to separate cylinder set ups for say an 82mm (750cc) motor. ?

Joint cylinders exchange heat, so if one is running hotter, the other helps to cool. They work in the same conditions as possible as it could be.

Abarth has joint cylinders and it comes to say that there is some good reason for that.

I am looking for that kind of cylinders for my new engine. I prefer good used ones. Does someone here have that for sale?

Thankyou matey,It was just a query really, as Im in the throws of a conversion. As for the welding in the block on a previous thread , I guess that was for strengthening purposes and is it a must do, I suspect it is as the block is not overly strong. Thanks for that Mike.
