When is the MOT booked  ;D

Love the rims, Do the indicators work with the lights on? Now try the brake lights on too (fingers crossed)

Hopefully the MOT isnt too far away, the sooner its done the quicker i can get it on Uk plates. Although if im honest i will miss the charm of the foreign ones! And the indicators and wipers are sluggish with or without the lights on!

Your car looks great!! Please let me know how you get on with the HID headlights. Did you install the HID yourself?

Thanks! Yes installed the HIDs myself, really simple. Just plugged straight in. Had to modify the rubber cover but other than that no drama's, the difference in brightness speaks for itself!   :D

And here is a pic of the setup!

thats interesting how much do they cost? do you have to beef up the wiring or anything like fit relays etc?

Well these are H4 bulbs running at 8000k. I bought mine second hand of a friend just to see if they would work on the 126 but new they cost roughly £40-£80. The ballast plugs straight into the origanal sockets so no modification neccesary (so far!)

They do work but still in the testing phase, so far they've plugged straight in and worked fine but ive not had a chance to use them for any considerable amount of time. I'd like to make sure there not overloading any of the delicate wiring before claiming they are a straight fit :D

I think they'll certainly be a worth-while mod. There so bright even during the daytime and give the car a good look imo!

I am under the impression that the electrical current of an HID is claimed to be lower than a halogen bulb so it should be ok, although of course most of these hid kits are chinese copy technology.  I have a pair on my lotus and they worked fine, but just on the main beams.  It is conceivable that if your mot man notices them and is a miserable one he could fail it because the bulbs are probably not E marked, and because HID are so bright they are only ever used (on new cars when built) in conjunction with load levelling to make sure you dont dazzle people when the boot is full of stuff.

That is why on the lotus (which has a twin headlight setup) i used normal xenons for the outer units (dipped plus main) and HID on the inners, because I think if we get into an argument come MOT i can disconnet the inners and I still have an e-marked dipped and main.  Having said all that, its been irelevant becauser the car hasnt been to an mot since i did all this.

I have also been thinking about another idea for lights.  Nowadays you can get some dinky little units being sold for kitcars.  I am not sure if these are the same things, but i also noticed at a chinese bike show i went to that there are motorcycle headlights which are really small too.  So you could make up a blanking panel in the old headlamp hole and fit these:

I know i've gone a bit tangential on this one, sorry............
