Panel Diagram?
« on: January 03, 2011, 01:20:06 PM »
Hi All

Going to be starting my restoration on our 500 very soon (I have managed to sell a car and create some space in the garage!!).

It has had most of the panels around it replaced already,  as well as the floor.
My problem is,  most of the work is of a low standard,  I am already going to have to grind back most of the welding to redoo and tidy it up,  as well as remove the front wings again,  as they have been hammered well out of shape!!!  :-(

Where the floor has been replaced,  there are some gaps, either side,  at the sides of the back seat,  where I am not sure what should be there,  so was hoping someone had a link or pdf,  to a diagram of all the panels for the 500,  as I have searched but not found one!!

Any help appreciated.  :-)

Jon

That sounds like just what I could do with seeing Rusty!  :-)

Are you still involved in the disc brake bits by the way?

Jon , I can photocopy a couple of pages & post them on to you if you PM me your address & I also wondered if the publication could be uploaded into the reference section on this site as there are lots of really good diagrams along with the original part numbers.  ???
The disc brake thing is ongoing but I do not go on too much about it unless there is a new devopement as I get a bit fed up with dipstick, timewasting dreamers.
I work on the theory that if you have got the enthusiasm & nowse to look at all the info that has been posted on this forum then you may also be capable of doing the job as I think it is easier than replacing all of the standard front brakes  [-/

So I'm not the only one who looks at new postings and thinks 'god that's been discussed loads of times before on the forum' :P

Often I've thought if they can't be bothered to search what we've already discussed then I can't be bothered to help

What is the difference between a Bis and an aircooled, which one is better? Can I fit an aircooled engine in a Bis?

Sorry

I can certainly get this publication scanned and added to the subscribers section, how many pages are in the publication?

Hi Chris , no page numbers but it is A4 size , individual sections & if I squeeze it between my fingers it is about 8mms thick. But like all these trade pulications there are wasted pages however there are the definitive diagrams along with the original part numbers which I have found quite useful. PM me your address & I will put it in the post . Some of the parts shown will also be common to the 126 . Still keeping my eyes out for the "sister" publication that would have covered all of the mechanical parts  [-/

Thanks again for the info (pm sent),  it will be invaluable, with what I am going to be doing on ours.

Have had the 500 over a year now,  but had several months off work and the garage became full,  so only just getting to the point where I have space to actually get on with it.

Plenty to be getting on with at the moment,  I will look into the disc brake plan when I get further into it!

Thanks again.

Jon :D

Cheers Jon , no problem but that is one sad statement about the mail service  :o
I posted that letter the day before I sent the whole publication to Chris Lewis. In the meantime he has scanned all of the publication onto the site & returned the publication to me which I received back again about 5 days ago  [-/
