Please help! Looking for a Bis Starter Motor
« on: October 06, 2010, 09:46:47 PM »
Hi Folks

After not doing anything to my poor Bis for over a year(!) and having returned to the country to see her sitting forlornly is my friends driveway, I have decided that it's vital to get her back on the road asap.

First things first, i need a working Starter motor. Does anyone have one hanging around?
Fair price paid. Get in touch if you can help a poor Bis with a slight complex

Cheers

I think the one from the air cooled one is the same as the bis. You can always try to get it reconditioned.

Hi

Ive got a brand new starter motor that i can sell you. For a very good price. Most of them on ebay seem to be #190.

I'll. Pm you. Don't worry I want a lot less than £190 and you won't have to send one back in exchange.

Few on Ebay, one for £60, or Hotdefender's one for £93 also a couple of people breaking 126's (but expensive parts).

Are 100% its the starter motor? Wouldn't it be cheaper to get it reconditioned?

Hi
Ive tried searching on the bay, but can't see the one for £60. Maybe someone has bought it already.
Have checked the starter and its definately at fault, so am trying to see whats around. Im not too sure how to recondition it myself, but looks like I might have to go down that route. Have found new brushes and bushes and can replace these but after that Im a bit unsure how to proceed. Will ask my mechanic mate over the weekend and maybe see if anyone here has any ideas if we dont get anywhere.

Cheers

The most common fault is the solenoid.
Have you tried shorting the two big terminals together (Red Dots) with a piece of wire or a small screwdriver ??? If the motor spins the solenoid is at fault

Mine is still avail, I would do a better deal on here, but even so  £90 is cheaper than anywhere else brand new.
