BIS Engine - or Aircooled if they fit

Just given up and taken my Harold to a local garage, they have compression tested him and they say that there is ZERO compression in one of the cylinders....seems about as far as they are willing to take things because they told me to come and get him.  They seem to be of the impression that the engine is caput.

Therefore, I would presume I need a new engine.  Anybody got one?

Does anybody know if aircooled engines bolt onto the BIS box?..id be happy going this route, of back to water.

Air cooled does not fit strait in as the bell housing on the gearbox is different. Bodywork would also need to be modified if bell housing was swapped to allow for a taller engine and ducting for the cooling air.

500 gardinera air cooled engine might fit, ducting would have to be sorted again, but think you'd be better-off finding another BIS engine or simply re-building the existing one.

Lack of compression can be a knackered valve or knackered rings on the one piston.

It isn't rocket science, and a careful disassembley and re-assembley with help from the forum might be a more fullfilling experience [-/

Yeah fix it!  I lost compression on my 2CV and it was due to the valves being knackered!  If I can fix it you can!
