Hi,
Paul have a look on ebay - does the description of my green one sounds honest enough?? You will know the best if it does. Thanks in advance.

Anyone serious about an aircooled 126 should jump at your green one Jan, because I know that cheaper ones end-up costing about what you're asking for there, unless they're happy with a banger..

Darrell you're right. There is obviously matter of it's being LHD and floor isn't pretty done at all :) but it is loads of money spent on it anyway and floor doesn't affect it in my opinion. We will see, loads of interest so far and looks like I will sell it easily.

Im still looking for a decent 126, I saw the green one then I saw the floor and the fact it has little jobs needing doing. I dont think you understand the UK market Jan, why is fixing a sticky brake and connecting up washer jets such a hardship? It just smacks of a seller desperate to sell... thats how loads of folk will see it. Why spend thousands and then bodge up the floor, itll only rot out again like your orange one will. Under a car is just as important as above, it seems our Polish friends see otherwise as they just bodge the 126s together. Someone could buy that green car, use it everyday and eventually all the bodging will rot out and kill that car. Also, those plastic wheel arches will only attract moisture and dirt... rust!

Fiatfsm my English friend - I understand UK market very well, selling here at least few classics a month and some of them properly restored for over £10K. Some of them rotten buckets for lest than a grand. Not fiats just before you will ask.
And I don't know anyone who would complain (I do keep contact with loads but loads of people who bought something of me). Plus people in VW scene knows me well and trust me - none of them would call me a guy who bodge something together. Ever.
Talking about hardship - it isn't a problem at all to fix few small bits (washers are well connected by now) but if the car isn't done for sale it just makes no sense to deal with things i have no time for. And sometimes i am just lazy. Green one wasn't for sale - only accesories which were bought for it and goes with it are over £500. Still in box. So I dont give a s**t about sticky breaks or other details needs to be finished. Let someone to worry, they know problem is there so it is someone decision. I want it gone.
In case of being desperate to sell - with all due respect what do you know about me? I have given some cars away at fracture of cost becaue i was bored with then, some others I have sold half cheaper than I should as I wanted something else NOW and hasn't been bothered at all. Green one has to go because i want to have an expensive bike NOW and need to free some cash. As much as i can but no stress at all. Plus there is a lot of other issues like space (who ever from forum been here knows what I mean).
Now the most sensitive subject - floor. I just didn't have a time (or need) to be bothered with replacing whole floor. I wanted to use it, drive it, enjoy it. Plan was to do the floor in winter. And i can assure you till next summer nothing would rot here (BTW how do you know my orange one will? amazingly easy to predict the future of somebodies car). My colleague did it the best he can in a time given for it and i am fine with it.
Plastic wheels arches are lovely looking to me and i don't give a damn what it will atract. Don't like it? Buy the car and take them off. Simple as that.
I am basicly tired with bull***s.
That is some fuuny stoy here with you looking for a decent one and commenting on every one which isn't decent enough. I know about one decent example for about £4500 - floor like new. I can pass the phone number.
Problem is - people are looking for a perfect 126 for no money. Wake up - these days are long gone mate.
And the last thing - thank you for an advice - for the money I am prepared to let it go I will try to make conversion to discs brakes, put V8 in it and get floor goldplated - comon, lets be realistic. paint cost me almost £1500 so why should I be bothered with brakes and offer it for £500 to first person who comes????????

No one said it should be cheap, Im prepared to pay a good price for a good 126. They are around and still cheap. But, I just dont get spending all that money on a paintjob then welding the floor like you have. Its a real mess, be honest. Your orange one had crap welding in the arches, you remember? Ive looked at 4 126s described as good, they ranged from a few hundred pounds to £1800 and all were patched up heaps of crap, metal welded over front suspension, plates over the rust in floors and full of filler. Two were LHD Polish restorations, both a load of crap only fit for scrap or total expensive restoration.
You keep selling 126s in need of a little work and with dodgy welding. Thats what Im seeing on ebay, why cant you just do one properly? I see bad welding and jobs not done and just think whats not done elsewhere that I cant see.
I know someone who has bought a really nice 126, totally original and mint in RHD for just £2000, so they are still out there.

Cars price is right for what it is. Many much worse cars have gone for more, much more. The interior would cost a packet, paint, prep, engine. Even if you dumped the shell the bits are worth the money at UK prices.

Mmmmm although the couple of silly little jobs may put off someone who wants a 'ready to show' classic.

LHD cars will never make the same money as Right, A 126 can still be picked up in Poland for silly money and it's only a days drive away (although rather boring at 80KMH)

Is this 'FiatFSM' who had the blue one at Uxbridge a few years ago???? If so you certainly know a nice FSM when you see it.

Don't you think your being a bit harsh with Jan? Its not like anything has been hidden in the description of the car, is refreshing to see someone be so honest on ebay because there are a lot of cowboys out there. Personally i think the car is well worth the asking price and i hope it sells for it! If i had'nt have just bought a 126p i would have considered it myself.  The one i got has been bodged with filler in the sills but i knew this by viewing before buying, the ebay description did'nt mention it at all!!!

Good luck with the sale Jan!

Thanks guys.
Fiatfsm - Ok, I got a bit to emotional. It doesn't change the fact I cannot accept my fiat being called boged. Maybe its my english but I have an impression you said I did all this specialy for sale which is just one big b****t.
And stop thinking whats not done elsewhere that you can't see - too much imagination man is unhealthy.
Thats all I have to say, I am decent bloke enough.
End of subject.

A heap of rubbish 500 with rust etc can go for £4000 and there's bleating over Jan's price for something that GLEAMS!
A 500 in similar condition would be sold for £6-10000!
Come-on a car over 20 years old and you want it prestine? A little welding on the floor or innner wheel arch, who cares if it looks a bit tatty! It's underneath and for God's sake we all know people want to buy 126's for virtually nothing!

He's lost on that car, yes 'prestine' rust buckets are out there few and far between they also seem to want alot more!

What's wrong with Jan's Orange one? I've seen both these cars and thought they were very nice examples.

What 126 out there is not constantly fighting the battle with rust!!!

Jan has GIVEN me spares before, worth alot of money. I can assure you, it has to be for love of the 126 that he does what he does.

I've said it before, left hand drive is such a big issue in a car 4 foot wide! Ok so whatever I'm defensive here coz I know the car and know alot has gone into it.

You've just insulted the guy about all he's put into the car man!

i have one bit of advice for jan and that is although your friend is trying to do you a favour and weld as best as he can in the time permitted i think that you should invest in a good qualified welder to do the work when and if you need it. in the long run it will serve you better as if you keep or sell the car it will make your car more valuable.
if a bit of rot is cut out and replaced with a patch then it will be of no problem as long as it has been done correctly it seems to be de rigeur in practical classics and why should a complete section be removed if it is not neccesary?
i think you are a honest man in respect to the way you describe your cars on ebay and on the forum i must admit i do not understand your ethics sometimes but thats your choice and i think it should be respected.
hello barrie i understand what you are saying also however i think that jan has been open and is not concealing any bad points about the cars he sells.
if you are going to buy a 126 we all know by now what we are looking at and where to look and also to go and look at the car before any bids or offers are made.
if a car is not to your likeing then its simple walk away or if you think it is good but has bad points then discuss the points with the seller and see if an agreement on price can be achieved.
as for the plastic bits i think they look well trick and i would rather have them than arches full of dings from shopping trolleys parking errors etc. who gives a poo about rust we drive fiats and laugh in the face of tin worm!!!!
peace to all even dajwid. [-/

 >:( "End of subject" how very dare you, Now come on you know that I was going to thrash you within an inch of your life for what you have done with this little car.
And if my twig had not broken just before you set that big dog on me at uxbridge you would have got a jolly good spanking

 </4 </4
I do have to admire the way that you got all this publicity for the sale of your car just when the auction is ending , very clever.  l would have chipped in but you never told me what the commission was
great thread though as italian cars are meant to be all about passion even if they are small and sometimes born in a different country.
Jan you have helped to make this the the hello magazine thread on the forum  [-/ and you have even introduced a word quiz , still trying to work out the solution to - one big b-----t.
we must lock arms in mortal combat once more  or perhaps  </1
