rev counter
« on: June 09, 2010, 03:25:20 PM »
Hi all, unforunately i no longer have a 126. I dinged my bis and a freind bought it off me as a project. just having aclear out and found this rev counter that i was going to fit to it.

I Believe its brand new, i never got round to fitting it to mine. just thought it would be a nice accessory.
It goes to 8000rpm, made by a german company called MMB. Its a simple installation by the look of it. Heres some pictures if anyones interested:

box

front

installation instructions

Id like 40quid ono. as thats what i paid for it inc postage.

Ive also got some alley cat wheels that fit a 126, but there would need to be some wider arches fitted and some front arch modifications to make them fit. only want 40 for them too, if anyones interested i'll get some more info and pics.

Either PM me or call me on 07828225692, im in brixham devon

cheers Keir

Hello my old mucka,

Owning a fiat and electrics not your favourite, I dont believe that :P

Your diagram listed shows you need a 12v on the red wire when ignition is switch on, brown wire to a good ground/earth, and the green wire is your switching signal so connect to the low tension side of the coil the same place the 123 ignition connects to to give your frequency (where the points would have connected too if still fitted). The two other wires are for background lighting so connect one to a 12v live when the lights are switch on and the other to ground/earth. ps the drawing does not show on the light connection which wire is which but the wire from the centre off the bulb holder is +12v when the lighting is switch on [-/

 :P :P :P :P :P

Electrical gizmoes  >:(
Ok so I connected this tacho up last week , seems that my engine ticks over at about 3,000 rpm and easily revs to about 10,000 rpm
So seems that I got screwed on this one  :(
Anyway I did see somewhere about changing resistors on the circuit board to correct the reading , any ideas  ;D

Is it a specific 2 cylinder counter? Easily revving to 10,000  and idling at 3000 would make me think it's for a 4-6 cylinder.

i fitted a counter that ran off magnets attached to the pulley and was measured by a sensor however the bloody magnets would keep getting thrown off no matter how i tried to attach them and then i ripped the sensor off in a paddy! i now guestimate that i am reving the bollards out of the engine by the shrill noise and concerned looks from other road users.

Hi Rusty,

Yes I did changed the resistors in the back off my 4 cyclinder rev counter so don't throw it away yet. Can you take a picture off the inside or post it to me and I can calibrate it for you for a 2cyclinder engine. As you mention it's does sound you readings are for a 4or 6 cyc engine, look on the bright side it does work

Smalcox

Ps does it have a switch on it for different number off cyclinders?

Hi Smallcox , it is a little 48mm unit supplied by a specialist Harley firm. It has "single fire" hand written on the box. Definately not switchable and it was sealed for life as I had to carefully prise out the back of the front bezel to get at the internals. My theory is different to yours in that I think that it was for a single cylinder 4 stroke engine then with the twin spark set up I am getting twice the pulses it needs to give me a good reading. It works very well & looks like a quality item so would be good if it could be rejigged. I did also wonder how it would react with a standard ignition set up  [-/

Forgive me MASTER,

But i have been on nights so a single cyclinder rev counter it is( it does look motor bikie). If you can get to the components it can possilbly be tweeked. failing that just file one off your lobs on you distributor :P
