Lowering my Bis

Morning all

I have my 1st saturday off work in nearly 20 years (apart from while on holiday ) and am going to attempt to lower my car , again havnt really done much mechanical work for donkeys years .
I have splashed out on a full kit from italy , these guys are recomended ordered and delivered in less the 2 days and for some srange reason no money has changeed hands.....lol http://www.fiat500sport.com/def.asp?l=ENG&sku=1321965717B7 , spring, coils and dampers .
How long should it take to get it done ?

sir that all depends on how good you and your tools are! preparation is the key make sure that you get the duck oil on well in advance.

Ok an hour and a half front is done, went to do the rears and the shocks are wrong , willpost pics later .

When I replaced the the front spring with the reverse eye spring the car handled like a pig it was al over the road so i took the car to be tracked up and that sorted it out The kit you bought was for the aircooled and they do have a different shocker fixers (eye) on the bottom mount.

I thought the kits were all the same, never mind, your right it does handle like a pig but will get it tracked this week .
It dosnt look much lower either .

Did you load the car up or use the fiat tool to compress the spring to the correct shape, if not it may take some time for it to bed in.

from what i know the suspension kit is just front and rear shocks and uprated shorter rear springs did you get a reverse eye leafspring as well?

its slightly lower , i,ll get the correct springs for the rear .

sold the siecento that is in the background or pic 2  today, so the Bis is now my daily driver

If you get hold of a couple 25kg bags of sand and put them in the front boot this will help to bed the new spring in, I left them in when i had mine tracked. If the silent blocks at the end of the spring needed to be pressed in and are tight you need to slacken the eye bolts, move the car up and down to settle the suspension then tighten them up while the wheels are on level ground, as Ralph mentioned. if you pushed them in by hand they will seat them selves.

I,ll give the sand bags a go , the spring went on easy, and we did try to settle the suspension before tightening it all up .
