BMW k75 or fire 1108 engine swap
« on: March 05, 2010, 10:45:17 PM »
BMW k75 or fire 1108 engine swap. Witch would be easier to do? I want to do an engine swap on my aircooled 126 and want to decide between this 2 options, I searched the web but I can't find too much information about it. If anyone has done one of this and can tell me what parts I would need to do one of this swaps and also wich one would require less fabrication and also most importantly wich one would be a cheaper option. Thanks in advance.

Fire would be the easiest and cheapest Its been done before so you can see how others have done it which cuts out the development time and expense. It is even possible to buy an adapter plate from Poland that's about ready to fit to the gearbox/engine. The K75 would need a lot of development to work.

Would I be able to get the same amount of horsepower than a 1108 if I modify my aircooled engine or not?

with regards to the can i acheive the same power as an 1108cc with a 650cc question in a word no.
but then if you are a rich man then you could dramatically increase the horsepower with some severe engine modifications and rebuilding but this would mean you end up with an engine that is unreliable as a normal use vehicule
and only able to run for short periods at a time.
