King pins
« on: February 28, 2010, 06:56:01 PM »
So here we go, I had this bloody feeling my steering is going very stiff. Michael came and we try obviously grease gun tratement but right one doesn't want to take it at all. Does anyone has right side kingpin for the old type 126 (wide diameter screws) for my orange? Or even two? Plust two shock absorbers? I have to deal with it before I will sell it and I would like to sell it next week.....
Such a thing as Fiat 126p will never happen again to this planet... Love it.

Hey Jan , are you saying that because you have a seized king pin that you want to replace the entire stub axles , old style brake drums & shock absorbers  ???
If the king pin is worn then you will need to replace it but if it is stiff then I would check out the grease nipple first then replace if blocked then fill a good grease gun with oil , preferably with the car jacked up , pump the oil in and waggle steering. Could work out a lot cheaper  [-/

You said replace grease with oil? Problem is RHside velve doesn't take ANY of the grease. So michaels diagnosis is old gres became solid and we can't do much about it. We came up with idea of takeing axle on a side and maybe try to use torch to worm things up. But as I am going to sell it soon I thought maybe replacement parts would speed process up...

That might speed things up but with that shopping list it might put a £400 + dent in your bank balence  ::)
What did your Ma do when the fat set in the pan, same as mine , put a little heat & more oil on it  [-/
