Our new 126.
« on: January 30, 2010, 10:06:07 PM »
So here we go again. This is the latest member of our family we purchased today. Some of you guys would probably recognise this car form a newspaper advert.
It is an Italian 1978 model, fitted with a 600cc engine(purrs like a kitten) with less than 11k mls on the clock. I would say it is lime green, or that funny kind of Mirafiori green. I always wanted one this colour.
The lady we bought it from is 91!!, and she had the car from new. She used to drive a 500 before. She got very emotional when we took the car, as it was her baby. I`ve got to say that she was very cheeky for her age. I`m not going to repeat her comments
The car is in very good nick apart from some rust spots(look mostly surface), and some odd dings. Nothing major really, and underneath is rock solid. Well I`m sure I`ll discover more about the car soon. The brakes need doing, but apart from that I think she`ll be ready for an MOT soon.
I will try to take some more pics tomorrow, as it was getting dark and they look a bit flat. And an other proof you can get a 126 in a small-ish van.
Well this is it for now. Some more pics to follow soon.

It is an Iveco Daily 29l9v. Loading space length is 3m, hence I had to take the rear bumper of.

Wow!!

yer what a great find!!!!!  ;D

i bought my 76' aircooled 126 off an old guy who had owned it since 78', after few years of owning it i drove it over to him to show him i had been looking after it, he was really pleased to see it still running.

Will you be taking it back to the old lady to show her?

Regards

Chris

O.K so here are few more pics after a clean and a bit of polish. She isn`t perfect by any stretch of imagination and more I look at her, more niggles I find.
Anyway the plan for now is just to leave the car as is, get it MOT-ed and enjoy it. Once I have enough spare cash, I`ll get the bodywork done professionally and get her resprayed(in the same colour of course).
