1978 - 1985 FSO POLONEZ
« on: January 15, 2010, 08:05:01 PM »
There is a challenge - does anyone have seen one of these for sale? In England? This model? I spent months and nothing came up. I could bring one from Poland (they are diabolique expensive) but hoped for a RHD (untipicaly for me :) )

If anyone knows anything I would apreciate. Hunt is on.

Such a thing as Fiat 126p will never happen again to this planet... Love it.

Man :) I know the history better than books, internet and other sources :) :):)
I am just looking for one here in the UK as I dont want to bother with bringing it.
Half of my family was related with FSM and the other half with FSO :) :) :) :)
I love POLONEZ and fiat 126 but would buy some here.

A pick up was for sale on Ebay a few month back. I seem to remember there being an article in popular classics listing only 8 or something silly left on the UK.

Try this guy

FSO Owners Club (including Polski Fiat register), c/o Simon McDonald-Elliott, Cottage Workshops, The Graig, Water-Trough Lane, Llanwenarth Citra, Abergavanny NP7 7EN, tel: 01873 810517, email [email protected].

I have not seen one of these for years. I suppose if you are patient one will turn up somewhere in the UK...usually when you have giving up looking for one.
There was one for sale a while back, but now unfortunately sold.

But I will keep an eye out on my travels.

Hi, thanks guys. All it is much apreciated. The thing is - in Poland loads of things have changed and these post-communist cars are now very modern. So good shape early POLONEZ or FIAT is just bloody expensive. So I thought I might byu one here (right hand drive would be nice) and bring parts to get it done from Poland. Would be chea[er and much more fun.

I have a lovely 1984 Polski Fiat 125p. Will get it here as soon as I will be able to sort some garage out..... Picturest to follow if "site management" doesn't mind...

Thanks Dajwid for the number - will definitely get in touch with them. Do they have any website?
Thanks Ciao - sometimes even small info is important
Thanks Chris - keep your eyes open. But I am looking only for a early one.

Not really what you want to hear, but I am pretty sure that mine, and a substantial amount of the disk brake kits fitted to Fiat 500 and 126 (before the rise of the cinq conversions) were that of FSO Polonez'. So I 'd assume that many were butchered for interchangeable parts.

Yesss, that the good movie. I have seen it many times :) sometimes Clarkson is mercyless bus....rd :D
Well, this in the movie is model after 1986, has additional quarter window on behind rear doors. It was called "aquarium" in Poland :)
I am after one without this window.

In the mid 90's some eastern block entrepreneurs came over to to the U.K. and bought as many Lada's, fso's. and Moskovich cars they could find, shipping them out of Hull docks, taking them back home to strip down and selling them for spares. where parts would sell at a premium back home. so they became as rare as hens teeth :)

Good luck with the search ;)

This is fiat 125p, highly modyfied I would say. I am definitely after POLONEZ. And for me it has to be 100% original. I did contact some people and effect is the same - guy who has one in Poland, exactly what I want doesn't want to sell it at all. But made another offer today and it might work, we will see.

In case of taking them home - thats right, I even remember some adverts being in high school "for sale polonez - english version, all parts". F**g butchers :)
It is shame, as polonez in his original version was a very nice and fresh looking car. At least for me :)

Will have some factory brochures and catalogues in english for polonez next week. From 1980, 1986, 1987. With all descriptions, models, prices, engines etc etc. So will scan and post some for those who didnt see it in england so far.

Found, Bought and got transport lined up!!! My cousin found one in mint condition, 1987. From an old retired local post office worker in far, far east Poland. Didn't get any pictures yet but my cousin said he almost collapsed when guy openg his garage!!! It was a shock as even in Poland they dont come in this condition anymore.
It is light blue colour with brown interior, literaly last serie as they finished them 11.1987!!! Only one thing is missing, chrome wheel hubs but will get them easily within few weeks. I am happy man now!!
Picture below is from internet sources but mine one is EXACTLY the same model but blue :) :) :) :) :)

I can see it now...........  cruising down some mountain road in the late afternoon, hazy sun in the sky - blue FSO, beige safari suit, ray bans and pans people on the radio!  My kind of afternoon! 8)

Nice car and well done on finding one!
