Fiat 500 Alfasud in Classics Monthly
« on: November 06, 2009, 09:31:41 AM »
Jimmy DiCarlo's crazy Fiat 500 with an Alfasud Engine and gearbox is featured in a nice article in the December issue of Classics Monthly.

Would be an incredible drive - 130BHP from a car that size.

You've got to love it.

There is talk of mine being shown at the Pistonheads show in January, now it is back on the road. Not sure for how long though!

It definitely has to win the prize for the tattiest 500 currently legal on the UK roads!

I got mysel a copy. How he managed to fit a 1500cc Alfasud flat engine with transmission into the 500 engine bay is quite a feat. It also looks awesome! It should be an incredible drive!!! :P

I saw this article too. It is an amazing piece of engineering, but I`m not so sure about the looks...
I met a guy up in Oxfordshire recently who has got a 500 and a 126. Both fitted with Alfa boxers in the middle with the gearbox behind. Pretty amazing. If I remember the 126 has got a Skoda 100 suspension at the front( so no more leaf spring). The only shame is that the 126 was in a very bad nick.
