Fiat 500 pedal box
« on: September 10, 2009, 08:41:39 PM »
Anyone got a pedal box that would fit a 1970 fiat 500? Mines nacked! It is the one that has the brake switch fitted to the back of the brake master. A 126 one might fit.....?

The 126 one is totaly different I am afraid but will fit with some major mods & will give you dual circuit brakes  [-/

Thanks for that, I went round with a pot of grease and that seems to have helped. no-one seems to have pedal boxes for them! -

Did I read somewhere that you had 123 ignition....? I have just fitted mine and initially it made a huge difference to the running of the car. Ran beautifully for 50 miles or so and then started to splutter a bit and delay again on throttle, I have it set on no1, is the best setting for could it be something else ???

I have only heard of one person having trouble with a 123 set up & that was when he somehow managed to fit it badly. I suspect the problem is elsewhere.

with regards to the 123 did you replace the coil for a new one? as it can tend to finish off an old coil easily also make sure you use the sillicon type ht leads and not the old type as they cant take the 123 either.

Many thanks for the responces, this site (and everyone) are very helpful - FYI it is a new coil and I think I have singled this out to be the carb not the ignition. The wasted spark is burning excess fuel in the alternate cylinder.... so I think it is something to do with the carb.....? The delay on the throttle should be down to the main jet being blocked but I have stripped and cleaned it on the coffee table tonight and it seemed clean ???.....Is it just a worn out carb (it is old'ish)...?

I've fitted a 126 pedal box and master cylinder to my 500. If you fancy going down this route I can tell you what is involved etc.
