Now here's an idea. I've seen so many engine swaps in both 126 models and in the old Nuovo 500's so what thoughts on fitting a smart 3 cylinder unit complete with tiptronic gearbox. I had a smart for a couple of years and it certainly performed well, just looked a bit erm, shall we say hairdresser-ish! No offence!

I've had similar thoughts but imagine it'd be quite an involved task!
Might end up better off getting one of the 660cc turbocharged units from the Japanese Kei cars, now they'd be fun

i suspect you could but the gearbox in the smart is somewhat jerky and i think you loose some of the fun of driving in an auto.
yes kei engine would be great but may be somewhat expensive.
