quick release boss

thingy so steering wheel can come off. anyone know where/how much/how to fit etc?

i have been trying o find one for aaaaaagees and i cant, i thought i found one then they said non in stock next in stock 2010 !!! rrrrrrrr

I bought one for a pug 306, sacraficed a mullered 500 steering wheel for the spline and machined an adapter plate at work. £50 plus a couple of lunch breaks. If you can find a second hand one for £50 or less then you can afford to take it to a machine shop and have them make an adapter, you will get some funny looks going round tesco with a steering wheel in your shopping basket though!

silly question and I hope you wont think me pedantic for asking (im just curious) why would you want a removable wheel?

I understand it for race cars where space is tight getting in and out but I'm 6'2 I can get  in and out of my bucket seated car with no problems...

(cos i want one is an accecptable answer)  ;D

Its a great theft deterrent, but also leaves you at mercy of mates practical jokes..... Ive driven away with a friends a few times leaving him stranded and at my mercy >:( [-/

I've got a snap-off one for wy woodrim steering wheel. It has a key so you can keep it locked on (to avoid such practical jokes!)

I needed to fit a 10-15mm spacer between the wheel and the snap-off adater to enable the horn button to work. With 90% of these kits, including mine you will need an aftermarket boss (which you will already have if using a sports wheel with 6 holes)

I've not tested the practiality as the car is still without MOT, but i have noticed that due to the kit and spacer the indicatos ae a little harder to reach due to the new further forward positioning, driving is more comf though.

I'll put pictures us when i can. You can get these 'snap-off' kits quite easily on ebay and for around £35-50 (they are £110 new)

I started off with one of the aftermarket bosses, but it does stick out a bit too much, thats why I made up the adapter so protrudes less.
I have the horn connected up, but it doesn't make much difference to me as my horn only ever works for the week around MOT time!
