faq section?
« on: June 29, 2009, 10:44:56 PM »
Just a thought but I see a lot of reposts and wondered if there is any reason why there isn't a FAQ section for us newbies? I've spent ages searching for simple (or repetative) things like which is easiest engine conversion, how to change to discs from drums, bodykits etc etc. Just a thought :)

This does sound like a good idea. we could also have a sticky with links to posts that fall into a certain catogory.

and that idiots guide to disc brake intallation that rizlarizla suggested would be a great addition to the forum.

its interesting how ALL search engines on ALL foums are more and less rubbish... i mean you can never find what youre looking for, browsing the posts is often the better option...  :o :)

Hi Mic, If you look on the Home page under main menu there is a section called Owners Guides, although there is only a few in there, If anyone would like to contribute to this section please Email me or Chris Lewis with pictures and instructions, and we'll see if we can get a few more useful guides in there.

P.S. Rusty, can we have your disc brake kit pictures and instructions :)

hi Pete yes ive seen that but it does need a couple more bits adding  :)

i was just thinking of one sticky that had a list of useful threads on each subject cos searching 17 pages just in one section can be quite time consuming and not everyone likes search function. i realise it could be a lengthly process but id be happy to put it together if people think its worth doing?

The club and site has been running for a long time. All the info is there for anyone to find, the info is free unlike many sites.

Use the search and have a look.

Newbies that come along and criticize really wind me up. >:(

im not criticizing im offering to help other newbies!

long term memebers that criticize newbies for asking the same questions and point people towards the search function - then claim to help people -  wind me up  ;D

I have to agree with mic, the search function rarely returns helpful results - you'd think a simple query like "arch extensions" or "wheel arches" would chuck up loads of useful threads, but alas nay :(

Oddly enough searching for "Project 1108" returns bis13's thread, not because that's the title of it but because someone wrote it in their reply.  ???

i think its a good suggestion.

we had discussed this sometime ago, but as you all pointed out its down to lazyness!

Would be good if owners could start submitting in the owners guide. Would be great to have a big library of guides.

Regards

i do agree that it would be usefull to have a faq section or topic, but on the other hand, when i joined up i spent countless nights just browsing thru the topics and reading all things usefull and interesting. what im saying is that if youre really into these little cars youll take some time to learn about them, and you cant store all the wisdom of the forum in a single topic. my suggestion to all newbies is browse thru, read all you can, and then if you are really stuck just ask, i dont mind answering any newbie questions (those are the only ones i know the answer to duh  :D :D )

all i can say is if in doubt SHOUT!! someone will always answer your questions even the stupid ones so dont worry we are all on your side. as for offering to sort out the mess involved in searching for info fair play but its a nightmare as threads always go off subject as thats what happens in forums.
